The Henry Programme

Working alongside BeeZee Bodies, Henry offers parents with children under 5 an online healthy families programme.

The programme is completely free for families and runs online for 1 hour each week over 8 weeks. We currently have programmes running on a Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon.

Over the 8 weeks we cover the following topics using a partnership approach which is strengths based and solution focused.

  • Session 1: Let’s get started (what’s a healthy person? Goal setting)
  • Session 2: Balancing acts (balance of foods and looking after self in terms of ‘me’ time)
  • Session 3: Needs and demands- parenting strategies
  • Session 4: Tuning into mealtimes- healthy habits
  • Session 5: Time to be active
  • Session 6: Eating Healthily- lunchboxes, Portions and food labels
  • Session 7: Let’s focus on feelings (listening and empathy)
  • Session 8: The way forward (celebrating what parent have achieved and handing out certificates)

Please view the Henry flyer and a Henry Programme referral form gives the referral criteria so please do refer any parents who are eligible.

Hertfordshire Caring Dads Programme

Caring Dads is a 17 week parenting course specifically for men where there have been allegations that they have been abusive in their families.

The main aims of the course are:

  • To increase men’s awareness of child-centred fathering.
  • Increase men’s awareness of, and responsibility for, abusive, and neglectful fathering behaviours and their impact on children.
  • To rebuild trust and enable the beginning of healing of the harm caused to their children.

We will be delivering a course in Watford, which will start in September / early October 2020 and a further course will be delivered in Hatfield early 2021. However, the Waltham Cross course has been suspended.

How to make a referral?

Any father living in Hertfordshire who has been abusive in his family and is still in contact with children may benefit from the programme. Attendance is voluntary but we would welcome those who may be motivated by a desire to demonstrate their fathering commitment to the Courts or statutory agencies. Suitability will be based on an assessment of the man’s needs, ability to benefit from the programme and his current circumstances. In order to protect families we need an agency to undertake to ensure support for the other family members and provide feedback on father’s behaviour. We will report on attendance, risk issues and level of engagement in the process and provide a Final Report.  Please use this form to send us your referrals for the Watford and Hatfield courses. Please indicate if you have referrals for Waltham Cross or Stevenage in the hope that new funding will become available. Please also send us your referrals via HERTSFX or email them securely with a password to caringdads@hacro.org.uk. Telephone us on 01727 854727 for more information.
