Suicide Prevention Training

We will be running a further set of FREE short online training events, in partnership with Samaritans, aimed at any public sector or voluntary sector colleague working in Hertfordshire. The next round of courses in May 2022 is now open for registration. Registration is available on Eventbrite, so please do follow the link if you or anyone you know would like to register:

Delegates will learn how to:

  • Understand risk factors that can lead to thoughts of suicide.
  • Recognise signs of suicidal thoughts and ideation.
  • Develop skills to have a conversation with someone at risk
  • Engage someone in conversation sensitively and effectively.
  • Explore strategies to keep someone safe.
  • Refer someone to the emergency and/ or support services.
  • Signpost to sources of additional support.

Please note, if you have completed Suicide Prevention Training funded by Hertfordshire County Council in the last two years, you DO NOT need to take this course.  It is available to all public sector frontline staff working in Hertfordshire and is at the intermediate level. You will be asked to complete a basic 20 minute online training before taking this course. Please see the attached flyer for more information
