Services for Young People are pleased to present the summer term 2022!

We are pleased to share our offer of youth work projects, services, support and opportunities for young people for the summer term 2022. Full details of all projects can be found in the PDF documents on this page. We’ve highlighted some options below that may be of particular interest:

SfYP Access Point Projects

Any young person aged 13-19 can attend our Access Point Projects (13-24 for care leavers and young people with learning disabilities) which provide young people with individual support on a range of topics, including:

  • Career planning, finding a job, apprenticeship or further education, developing a CV and preparing for an interview
  • Relationships and accessing sexual Health services, including free condoms, chlamydia and gonorrhoea screening and free pregnancy tests
  • Support with substance misuse, including referrals for more specialist support
  • Managing finances and housing support
  • Developing independent living skills
  • Accessing SfYP youth work projects and programmes

Pathways to Success Programme

Pathways to Success is a tailored programme of activities to support entry into Education, Employment or Training for young people aged 15 to 24 who are NEET or at risk of becoming NEET.

Our personal advisers provide 30 hours of support and guidance over 1–6 months plus a 5-15 day work experience placement. Support includes tailored activities, support in accessing functional skills in English and Maths (where needed), guidance to help young people get into a job, education or training, and follow up support if needed for six months after completion of the project.

Emotional Wellbeing

We all know that the last couple of years have been difficult for young people, and with exams approaching it’s likely that stress and anxiety levels are increased for some young people.  Our Emotional Wellbeing and Supporting You Projects offer a safe environment where young people can introduce new and positive routines into their weekly schedules and learn valuable techniques to reduce anxiety, developing confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

Details of this, and all of our other projects, can be found on the Youth projects in your area page on our website.

How to refer a young person to Services for Young People

The easiest way to refer a young person to our service is through the make a referral page on our website.  Referrals can be made by professional colleagues in schools, agencies, parents and even young people themselves.

The individual district leaflets and summer programmes can be downloaded from the Local Area News page of this newsletter.
