Our personal advisers provide 30 hours of support and guidance over 1–6 months plus a 5-15 day work experience placement. Support includes tailored activities, support in accessing functional skills in English and Maths (where needed), guidance to help young people get into a job, education or training, and follow up support if needed for six months after completion of the project.

For more information, please visit our website.

Emotional Wellbeing

We all know that the last couple of years have been difficult for young people, and with exams approaching it’s likely that stress and anxiety levels are increased for some young people.  Our Emotional Wellbeing and Supporting You Projects offer a safe environment where young people can introduce new and positive routines into their weekly schedules and learn valuable techniques to reduce anxiety, developing confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

Details of this, and all of our other projects, can be found on the Youth projects in your area page on our website.

How to refer a young person to Services for Young People

The easiest way to refer a young person to our service is through the make a referral page on our website.  Referrals can be made by professional colleagues in schools, agencies, parents and even young people themselves.

The individual district leaflets and summer programmes can be downloaded from the Local Area News page of this newsletter.

Gangs & County Lines Webinar

This St Gile's Gangs & County Lines Professionals' Session consists of speakers utilising their lived experience within the criminal justice system to unpack and explore the realities and consequences of county lines drug smuggling, gang involvement, criminal exploitation and serious youth violence. Perspectives from previous perpetrators and runners/transporters, combined with relevant case studies, aid audiences in gaining an authentic and credible understanding of this complex and cross cutting issue. The training has been delivered to a range of professionals working with at-risk young people across England and Wales.

After the session, professionals will be able to:

  • Define the term county lines
  • Outline the operational procedures involved in setting up a county line
  • Explain the methods used to groom, recruit and exploit young people
  • Have an awareness of the push and pull factors that contribute to a young person becoming vulnerable and susceptible to county lines involvement
  • Recognise key signs and indicators that young people are being exploited or at risk of county lines involvement
  • Describe the relationship between county lines and other forms of criminal activity and exploitation (i.e. serious violence, human trafficking, debt bondage, modern slavery and child sexual exploitation)
  • Explain the risks and consequences of county lines involvement
  • Understand the perspective of either a survivor or perpetrator after hearing from an expert witness, including a brief overview of how girls are used

Develop initial long-term and solution-based approaches to prevent and reduce the risks associated with each stage of the county lines process, inc. realistic exit strategies.
